Amendment Literary and Art Journal and the Medical Literary Messenger are seeking creative literature and art which addresses the theme of “Medicine and Social Justice” for an upcoming collaborative publication. Submissions are open to VCU students and faculty of any level, including undergraduates, graduates, medical students, and any rank of faculty. We welcome poetry, prose, fiction, creative non-fiction, and any medium or documentation of visual or performing arts.
Medical themes could include, but are not limited to, healthcare, medical mistrust, the pharmaceutical industry, chronic pain and disease, mental health, disability and accessibility, women’s health, LGBTQ health, or medical-related social stigmas. We are seeking to support work by those often marginalized in the literary and/or medical communities, and to highlight voices which challenge and expand our notions of medical narratives.
Submissions and inquiries should be sent via email to [email protected] by December 10th, 2018. The Chapbook will be released early in the Spring 2019 semester. Please include high-resolution images of art submissions. Literary submissions should have no identifying information in the document, but please include identifying information in the body of your email.
